CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, and CFA Society Singapore, have taken a step forward in ongoing efforts to proactively support and contribute to ESG capacity building, with the eligibility of Certificate in ESG Investing candidates in Singapore to benefit from financial support under the Institute of Banking and Finance Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS).
The Certificate in ESG Investing equips investment professionals with the technical knowledge and practical application needed to understand the fundamentals of climate change and the integration of ESG into the investment process. The Certificate in ESG Investing has been made available to candidates in most markets globally, and Singapore is the second biggest market in Asia Pacific, behind Hong Kong SAR, with over 2,000 registrations so far.
The Certificate in ESG Investing is offered together with a Preparatory Programme by CFA Society Singapore. With the IBF-STS scheme, Singapore Citizens aged 40 years and above are eligible for a 70% funding amount for direct training costs, while Singapore Citizens below the age of 40 as well as PRs are eligible for 50% funding. Further subsidies may be available to support lifelong learning and upskilling efforts, depending on individual’s eligibility.
CFA Society Singapore President Simon Ng, CFA said, “Knowing how to effectively navigate the increasingly complex ESG landscape is essential to staying on the right side of the green line, and starts with upskilling and capacity building. With ESG factors increasingly recognised as integral components of investment analysis, and growing demand for products and skills to support sustainable investing, the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing & Preparatory Programme is well suited to help address the real and urgent need for finance professionals to develop a deeper understanding of how these factors are impacting the industry, clients, and the world at large. And with candidates now able to benefit from subsidies under the Institute of Banking and Finance Standards Training Scheme, we take another step towards a more sustainable future.”
