REITs are a must-hold asset class for many retail investors in Singapore. The risk assets provide a steady stream of passive income which appeals to investors in the city-state. Nevertheless, we are concerned with how the asset class is perceived by retail and especially vulnerable investors who may not fully appreciate the risks associated with the use of leverage in REITs.
